SE Ranking is an all-in-one SEO platform. It covers rank tracking, keyword and competitor research, backlinks, website audits, local SEO, content tools, and daily tracking of AI prompts across five LLMs. Core costs $129/month, or $103.20 billed annually, and includes 10 projects, 2,000 keywords and 100 AI prompts tracked daily. Growth costs $279/month ($223.20 annually) and raises the limits and seats.

For many small businesses and agencies that's a sweet spot. You might still want an alternative, though: a bigger suite with more data, a cheaper tool for a single site, or a tool focused on writing and refreshing content instead of tracking. This guide covers five options, based on each vendor's official pricing pages, checked in October 2026. We haven't tested these tools side by side for this article, so there is no invented "winner by score".

A note on currency: some vendors only showed us prices in euros (we checked from an EU location). We've labelled those clearly. Check each pricing page for your local price.

1. Semrush: best for the broadest suite

From €134/mo (SEO, monthly; EUR shown)Free plan + 7-day trial

What it is: Semrush is one of the largest SEO and marketing platforms. Its pricing page now groups tools into toolkits: SEO + AI Search, AI Visibility, Traffic & Market, Local, Content, Social, Advertising and AI PR, plus an app center.

Pricing (EUR, as shown to us): the SEO plan is €134/month, or €112.52/month billed annually. It includes 5 websites to monitor, 500 keywords tracked daily, Position Tracking, Site Audit and basic AI-search monitoring. Starter SEO + AI Search is €190/month (€158.40 annually) and adds 50 AI prompts tracked daily and MCP access. Pro+ is €286/month (€238 annually), with 15 websites and 1,500 keywords. Additional users start at €43/month. There's a free plan with limited daily reports and a 7-day free trial.

Choose it over SE Ranking if: you need Semrush's breadth across advertising, social, market research and PR, and budget isn't your main constraint.

Keep in mind: SE Ranking Core includes 2,000 tracked keywords. Semrush's entry plans include 500, so compare limits, not just prices.

From $129/mo (Lite)Limited free plan

What it is: Ahrefs is known for its link index and crawler. Its plans include Site Explorer, Site Audit, Brand Radar for AI visibility, Web Analytics, API and MCP access. Standard and above add Content Explorer, Portfolios and Batch Analysis.

Pricing: Lite $129/month (750 tracked keywords, 5 tracked AI prompts, 6 months of history), Standard $249/month (2,000 keywords, 10 prompts, 2 years of history) and Advanced $449/month (5,000 keywords, 20 prompts, 5 years of history). Each plan includes one user, and extra users cost $40–80/month depending on the plan. Annual billing saves up to 17%. Enterprise starts at $1,499/month with an annual commitment. Ahrefs says it doesn't issue refunds in general. After a paid plan ends, accounts move to a limited free plan.

Choose it over SE Ranking if: backlink research and historical data are central to your work, for example in link building or competitive analysis.

Keep in mind: Ahrefs Lite costs the same as SE Ranking Core but tracks fewer keywords (750 vs 2,000) and fewer AI prompts (5 vs 100 daily).

3. Mangools: best budget toolkit for one site

From €37.70/mo (Basic, billed annually; EUR shown)Free account; 48-hour refund

What it is: Mangools bundles five simple tools: KWFinder for keyword research, SERPChecker for SERP analysis, SERPWatcher for rank tracking (weekly updates, daily on Agency), LinkMiner for backlinks and SiteProfiler for site metrics. It also offers an AI Search Watcher for monitoring prompts in LLMs, plus API and MCP access.

Pricing (EUR, as shown to us): Basic €37.70/month, Premium €52.70/month and Agency €97.70/month, all billed annually. Mangools shows annual billing as roughly 35% cheaper than monthly. Basic includes 100 keyword lookups per 24 hours and 200 tracked keywords. Mangools offers a full refund within 48 hours of payment (not for two consecutive subscriptions).

Choose it over SE Ranking if: you run one or two sites, mainly need keyword research and basic rank tracking, and want the lowest price.

Keep in mind: SE Ranking includes technical site audits, local SEO and daily rank updates that Mangools' entry plan doesn't match.

4. Frase: best if your bottleneck is content, not data

From $49/mo (Starter)7-day trial, no card

Content Guard watches published pages for decay and proposes fixes. AI visibility covers ChatGPT and Google AI on Starter, adds Perplexity from Professional, and Claude and Gemini on Scale.

Pricing: Starter $49/month ($39 billed yearly), Professional $129/month ($103 yearly) and Scale $299/month ($239 yearly). There's a 7-day free trial with no card.

Choose it over SE Ranking if: you already know your keywords and rankings and need to publish and refresh content faster. Frase is not a rank tracker or backlink tool.

Pros and cons of switching

Pros

  • Semrush and Ahrefs offer more specialised data and toolkits.
  • Mangools and NeuronWriter cost much less for narrower jobs.
  • Frase adds automated content publishing and refreshes that SE Ranking doesn't offer.

Cons

  • At similar prices, Semrush and Ahrefs entry plans track fewer keywords than SE Ranking Core.
  • Ahrefs generally doesn't refund, so check limits carefully before buying.
  • Content-first tools (Frase, NeuronWriter) don't replace rank tracking, audits or backlink research.
